Several weeks ago, Apple released a software update and a firmware update.
Very soon after, many, many users complained that their MacBooks were randomly shutting down, blaming everything from the software & firmware updates to poorly seated RAM or a heatsink.
Apple finally fessed up, without giving an explaination).
I hadn''t experienced any of the random shutdown problems and counted myself as one of the lucky ones.
Until yesterday.
Normally, I just leave my MacBook on, closing the lid so that it goes to sleep (a carry over from my Linux/FreeBSD roots, where "uptime" was a bragging and boasting ...
